Adelina Pecchia - Thunder Bay-Rainy River Conservative Candidate

Adelina Pecchia - Thunder Bay-Rainy River Conservative Candidate

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~~~  September 18, 2021  (LSNews)  The Westfort Canadian Pacific Rail Yard Pedestrian Bridge at Gore/Brown Street As a history major I love and continue to visit the many historical places of Thunder Bay - Rainy River. We need to remind ourselves of how superior this area is because of nature and how many economies thrived and continue to thrive here. My hope is that the forgotten places will be recovered and celebrated once we can gather again.

AdelinaMy siblings and my cousins and I spent many seasons as children and youth playing in the bustling Westfort area; marveling at the large passing train cars below us while we crossed The Westfort Canadian Pacific Rail Yard Pedestrian Bridge located at the intersection of Gore and Brown Street/s in Thunder Bay. In the summer that bridge brought us to close to ships docked at the Kaministiquia Dock. In our backyard we had Mount McKay's natural beauty sheltering us. The bridge is magical. It continues to take anyone who crosses it from a bustling dusty noisy place of train cars from one end to the other which unfolds a serene view of fields, water and mountain. Go and experience it. The climb is steep both up and down so be careful but worth every step!

Conservative Candidate Adelina Pecchia was born in Italy and grew up in Thunder Bay.  She is honoured to be able to represent the home riding of her childhood and youth of Thunder Bay - Rainy River.

Adelina was a founding member for the Neighbourhood Watch Program in Thunder Bay and met her husband, Dennis Pringle, a Social Worker, when he interviewed her on his radio program, “Rock of the New Dawn”, on 94.3 FM Radio, in Thunder Bay.  A singer song writer, both she and her husband have played with local music groups. “Thunder Bay is where I grew up.  It is my hearth and the reason I return as a citizen and Candidate."

Post COVID, a federal government must put in place long term plans to address the debt in Canada.  The debt must not take over the Canadian economy. The Conservative Party of Canada has a long-term recovery plan so we are not mortgaging the future.  We want to secure the future by:

-Jobs - getting the economy back on track.  To bring jobs back, provide the means to create new ones, and to get spending under control.  We want to keep our innovators and investors here in Canada.  We will support Canada's small business owners. We will support them because they create jobs for others.  The Liberal government on the other hand has not come through with a long term plan to support small business owners.

In the Thunder Bay - Rainy River Riding I've been speaking with small business owners who cannot find workers and are afraid they will close their doors for good. Canada's small businesses employ millions of people and they have been hit hard during the pandemic.  Small business owners need support to rebuild or restart their business and hire back workers.  Conservatives will help this by introducing the Rebuild Main Street Tax Credit.  This gives Canadians an opportunity to support small businesses by providing a 25 per cent credit on amounts of up to $100,000 to someone who personally invests in a small business over the next 2 years.  Interest free loans of up to $200,000 will be made available to help small and medium businesses with up to 25 percent forgiven depending on revenue losses.  These loans are more generous that the Liberals' $60,000 Canada Emergency Business Account Loan which fell short of the needs of thousands of eligible businesses.

Accountability - tackling high prices, especially housing prices and fight inflation.  We are now in an affordability crisis regarding home ownership.  Affordable housing needs to be ensured for the future.  The Conservatives want to remove stress tests for those that currently own a home so that they can renew with another lender.  Removing the stress test can also be helpful for small business owners who generate the hopeful atmosphere of our economy.

Accountability: The Conservative Party of Canada has committed to funding for all future research for unmarked graves on Residential Schools.

Mental Health - providing funds to support the mental health crisis in our country.  We are doubling income for those on Disability and providing support for those who are family caregivers for ones in their own homes.

Economy - I've provided this outlined with jobs and employment

Secure our country - we want secure independence from other countries for things we need in an emergency.
